| Academy Schools are Privatisation |
|
Academy Schools are NOTHING to do WHEN THEY PRIVATISED THE RAILWAYS, they said it was to improve them. It wasn’t. It was so that their capitalist friends could make loads more money. And they have. WHEN THEY PRIVATISED GAS & ELECTRICITY, they said we would all benefit. We didn’t. Prices and profits went up and up, and still are going up. We were ripped off. THEY SAID PRIVATISING WATER WOULD BENEFIT US. It didn’t. Now our water supplies are owned by foreign companies that make massive profits out of us. TO JUSTIFY PRIVATISATION THEY TELL US LIES… but we’ve heard it all before. WE ALL KNOW… IT’S DAYLIGHT ROBBERY! There are carpet warehouse bosses, used-car salesmen, pie and sausage manufacturers and hedge fund dealers running “Academies”, amongst many other fat-cat “sponsors”. They also sometimes involve colleges and universities as a first step to make the sell-off look prettier, and make you think it’s not as bad as it might be. IT’S A CON TRICK! “ACADEMIES” ARE A FIRST STEP TO THE FULL PRIVATISATION OF SCHOOLS. Find out more about the Communist Party in Derby Breaking up the local school system - and giving schools to unelected people you can’t influence - does NOT improve school standards. They’ll tell you it will – but ask for the evidence. IT’S A DOWNRIGHT LIE! In fact, across the country, “Academies” have a record of ADMITTING FEWER children from the poorest backgrounds and EXCLUDING MORE of children they don’t want - on grounds of “behaviour”. The government recently made a list of “failing schools”. 28 were Academies! “The private sector” can’t even run its own banks! They’ve brought the economy into crisis through irresponsible speculation. Yet the politicians want to turn our schools over to the madness and personal interests of these capitalists – or “greedy, selfish bastards” as they are technically known. As a the recession gets worse working class people are going to be under attack in all sorts of ways. It’s going to be tough. We have to stand up for ourselves. New Labour, the Tories and Liberal Democrats all support the other side. We have to rely on ourselves, our unions and our community organisations. Working together, we’re strong. We can stop the attacks. Let’s start right now by saying, |
